This year the Original US Congress Handbook, in partnership with The Hill, launched an all-new contest for 3rd - 8th graders enrolled in schools located in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Students competed to design the cover of the Kids Cover Charitable Edition of the 112th Congress, 2nd Session US Congress Handbook. This special edition features the student designed artwork illustrating "What Congress means to me." Fifteen percent of all the handbook's proceeds will be donated to local nonprofit, The Hoops for Youth Foundation. The foundation provides funding to local schools and programs aimed at helping at-risk kids in our communities.
Below are the winning covers and some of our other favorite designs! To order a copy of the special edition with cover designed by Sasini Wickramatunga, click here. The winners will be honored at the Hoops for Youth Congressional Basketball Game on September 12, 2011 in Washington, DC.
